Choose a starting point

Make room for the whole message

Choose a starting target based on what else you are sending. Check both your mail service and the recipient’s limit before you compress.

One short video

Try a 15 MB target if your mail service permits it, then check the downloaded file. This is a starting suggestion, not a delivery guarantee.

Video plus documents or photos

A 10 MB video target leaves more room for your other attachments. Add up all attachments and reduce the target further if needed.

Keep fine text or a long recording

If compression makes the video hard to read, use a sharing link from your own cloud storage. Check recipient access before sending. This tool does not create sharing links.

These buttons change only the size target and select target-size mode. Your file and resolution setting stay in place; uploading starts only when you choose Start Compression.

Planning example

One video is only part of the budget

Example: planning within a 25 MB attachment allowance. Use the limit your own service actually shows.

Video · 15 MBOther attachments · 3 MBUnallocated · 7 MB

15 + 3 + 7 = 25 MB. This is an allocation example, not a calculation of the encoded email size. Message-size limits, transport overhead and recipient rules can require a smaller total.

Personal Gmail accounts allow up to 25 MB of attachments in total; larger totals are sent as Google Drive links. Work and school limits are set by the administrator. Gmail attachment guidance

Outlook also checks message size. Confirm the limit for your account and mail server rather than treating the 25 MB preset as a universal allowance. Outlook large-file guidance

When the result needs another try

The attachment is still rejected

Read the sending error and check the total of every attachment, not only the video. Lower the target if the message is too large; ask your mail administrator if an organisation policy blocks it.

Text or faces look unclear

Recompress from the original file, with a larger target if allowed. If the full clip cannot remain readable within the limit, trim it in a video editor or send a cloud-storage link.

The recipient cannot play it

Play the downloaded MP4 yourself first, then ask the recipient to download the attachment and try a current player. If you send a cloud link, also check its access permissions.

Common questions

No. Download the compressed video, then attach it in your own email app. You choose the recipient and send the message yourself.
