A casual chat clip and a file someone needs to keep have different priorities. Choose the sending method in WhatsApp as well as the size target here.

A short clip for the chat

Try 15 MB as a starting target, then send the downloaded MP4 using the media option. Check the received version as well as your local export.

A smaller download matters

Try 10 MB for a short clip when download size matters. Compare faces, captions and sound before deciding whether the smaller version is good enough.

The recipient needs the file itself

Consider the document sending option. If the original already fits the document limit and plays correctly, another compression pass may be unnecessary.

These buttons change only the size target and select target-size mode. Your file and resolution setting stay in place; uploading starts only when you choose Start Compression.

Before you share

Media and document are different sending paths

Choose the path in WhatsApp after downloading your result. This compressor does not choose the sending method for you.

Send as media

Use the photo/video attachment option for a clip intended to be watched in the chat. Inspect the available quality options and preview before sending.

Send as a document

Choose the document attachment option when sharing the file itself. Tell the recipient the filename so they can find and open the right download.

Compare the received copy

Check one detailed frame, speech and the full duration. A local preview only tells you about the export before it is sent.

Availability and controls can differ by app and device. Check the version received on the device that matters to you.

WhatsApp documents file sharing without compression and a 2 GB maximum for documents. That document allowance is separate from this compressor’s input limit; the 15 MB preset is a suggested target, not WhatsApp’s official limit. WhatsApp messaging and file sharing

When the result needs another try

The received video looks worse

Compare the downloaded MP4 with the received copy. Review the media quality setting, or try the document option if sharing the file is suitable for your recipient.

Sending stalls or fails

Confirm that the download finished and the file plays locally. Check the connection and the sending option’s current limit; use a smaller target only if size is the issue.

The recipient cannot open the file

Ask them to finish downloading the attachment and open the MP4 in a compatible player. Verify that you sent the result file, and keep the original for a new export if needed.

Common questions

Yes. Depending on the sending method, WhatsApp may process the file again. Check the shared result on the receiving device.
